Dear Friends,

From time to time, certain persons make moves in the Federal Parliament to amend the Standing Orders of the House of Representatives and the Senate to remove the requirement for the reading of the Opening Prayer and the Lord's Prayer at the start of each day of sitting.

Many people have indicated to us that this is a most disturbing prospect, and one that would meet with strong opposition from most Australians, especially Christians.

However, more importantly, the name of the Lord brings blessing (Num 6:27, Ps 118:26). So, to remove the name of the Lord from the Parliamentary opening sessions goes against the Lord's desire to bring blessing on our Parliament.

While PPN does not normally involve itself with issues, we do support keeping members and senators abreast of Christian opinion on this very important matter.

To this end, for those so inclined, attached is a copy of a petition prepared by the Right Reverend Dr. John Wilson, which may be circulated freely.

It is important that the petition be copied exactly as per the form attached.  Completed sheets can be forwarded to:
